Victor Henry Wathen 1921 ~ 2009 Victor Henry Wathen, age 87, died Sunday, February 15, 2009, in Salt Lake City, UT. He was born April 17, 1921 in Lehi, UT to Henry Alexander and Cora McDonald Wathen. Married Dora Jeane Batchelor on Sept. 25, 1946 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Our beloved father, brother, grandfather has returned to his Father in Heaven after a courageous battle to remain with his family and loved ones suffering a stroke on Thanksgiving Day. Dad and Mom are finally together again. Victor served a mission to the Southern States for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter -day Saints and on May 24, 1944 joined the Marine Corps serving in Okinawa and in China until July 25, 1946. Dad loved the church and attended faithfully his entire life serving as 2nd counselor in the Bishopric, Bluebell, Utah Ward, Branch President in Waterloo, Iowa and various other church positions. Dad was a masonry and building contractor by trade. He loved boating, fishing and camping and we all had lots of fun as a family while growing up. Victor also loved helping his wife, Dora Jeane, in her catering business up until her passing on February 29, 1996. He is survived by a sister Karen Ruth Wilfong, his children: Diana Marie Wathen (Grag Parker), David Henry (Gail), Marcus Eli (Bernadette), eight grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. A sister, Wanda Williams, preceded him in death. A viewing will be held Friday from 6-8 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East 10600 South, Sandy, Utah. The funeral will be Saturday, February 21st, at 12 noon at the Sandy Hillcrest Stake Center, 8474 South 1000 East, Sandy, Utah. A viewing will also be held one hour prior to the funeral.
