Disneyland - Happiest Place on Earth!

Troy and I decided to brave the crowds at Disneyland to celebrate his graduation - our first trip to Disneyland together. :) We had a very fun day, and were lucky enough to meet up with several family members for a few evening rides (Brad, Meri, Madde and Hunter - WE MISSED YOU!!).

Graduation!!!

Troy's GRADUATION was on May 8th! Hooray!!It was so great to see him walk through and get his degree! (well technically 2 bachelor's degrees and a certificate-- Political Science, International Studies and a certificate in International Relations.)
I am so very proud of him for completing this very hard challenge, and for remaining so dedicated to graduating. Way to go, my love!

Troy's sister, Tanya, little Henry, and Troy's Mom all came to the graduation. I know Troy loved having them all there to support him. We were also lucky enough to have my Dad in town on a layover from Vancouver, so he was able to come to the graduation and lunch as well! Thanks for changing your flight Dad! And thanks for getting up so early in Vancouver too! :)

One Last "All-Nighter"

Before finishing the current semester Troy had one last all-nighter he had to pull. He had a take home final that was very difficult so he, his buddy Gillis and a few other students headed to the library to get it all done. The following photos were taken at 3 or 4 am...That's a whole lot of pizza and gatorade....

Graduation!!!!

Troy is "walking" at the University of Utah's Graduation Ceremonies on FRIDAY!! Hooray!!!! I am sooo very proud of my College Graduate!!

Shoogle strikes again...

Shelly and I have spent a lot of time lately discussing cookies.... its an obsession really and Trevor loves to tell me he is eating or making cookies even when he isn't - which just makes me grin! :) Anyway.... Snickerdoodles were the cookie of discussion today, and we were wondering what Cream of Tartar is. I of course had no idea because the only thing I ever use it for is cookies... haha! But worried that I might lay awake wondering all night, Shelly thought she better find out.

So... for those wondering - Cream of Tartar is apparently "a crystaline acid deposited on the inside of wine barrels." Kinda makes you want to use it, huh? Yeah... not so much! Haha!

Non-Profit Academy

As some of you know I have been working towards a Certificate from the Non-Profit Academy for Excellence that the University of Utah offers. I was accepted to the program last year and started the classes last fall. With only working part-time I have been able to complete the program much faster than I had planned. I finished my last class last week and here is my certificate...

45th Anniversary of the Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company

Last week was the final show of Ririe-Woodbury's 45th Season. There was a big dinner to honor the 2 founders of the company - Shirley Ririe and Joan Woodbury. The dinner was hosted by Zion's bank and held at their offices, with beautiful decor by Every Blooming Thing and delicious food from Cuisine Unlimted. A few people gave some short speeches, there was a slide show and then it was time for all the introductions. There were so many important people in attendance - dancers from all 45 years, former and current staff, former and current board members, friends of RW, etc. It was an excellent way to honor the legacy that Joan and Shirley have worked so tirelessly to build.

And of course I came home with flowers, just as I do from every event we attend... haha!Then we had three nights of shows, including a special Alumni piece at the beginning of the Thursday night show. It was so wonderful to see all of the past dancers participate. Troy and I both felt so honored to be a part of all of it!

We also have one dancer who is retiring this year.... we will miss Jo VERY much! He is a great guy, and an amazingly talented dancer. The Saturday show was his last official performance with the company, but hopefully he will still be around a lot!

After the show we also had a Studio D party and we had a great turn out! The party was at Flemings... very yummy food! After the party at Flemings, we headed over to Caine's for a "going away" party for Jo. Caine and his roommate Audry were excellent hosts and we had a wonderful time hanging out with the dancers, their friends and a few of the other board members as well. It was a very fun night!
