TaeKwonDo is sooo fun!

I started back at TaeKwonDo this week! I didn't realize how much I had missed it until I was there, catching up with my instructor and the other students. Its just a fun place to be, and such a fun way to workout!

My foot is holding up pretty well and Mr Tatton (my instructor) is making sure that I am extra careful. I guess he knows me well enough (after 9 years) to know that I have a tendency to just jump right back in and do a little too much, too fast. Haha! If Troy were on here he would point out the fact that the Doctor told me to slowly phase out my cast and I heard "You don't have to wear it any more!" Haha!

At the moment I am not feeling at all worthy of wearing my black belt.... but I will get there again! :) And in the meantime, wearing it helps keep me motivated!

Hablo Espanol!

Wow!

Today I spoke in Spanish... correctly! Well, actually I typed in Spanish technically but the point still remains! Haha! Unlike my fiasco of telling Troy that he was permanently hungry (as in a constant and forever state of hunger... Haha), rather than asking if he was hungry... today I actually said what I was trying to and I said it correctly!! I used the proper words, in the proper order and the correct form of the verb! Yeah! I am so happy!

Oh and by the way..... It was so wonderful to have Dad, Mandy and Luke in town for the weekend!! It took Luke a little to warm up to me but by Sunday he was giggling and playing and smiling! I LOVED IT!! He's just growing too fast!

Thanks Mandy and Dad for coming up! I loved seeing you both and had a great time with you! Come back soon!

Music and the Spoken Word

Wow... what a great experience! On Sunday morning we had the opportunity to attend the taping of Music and the Spoken Word at the Conference Center. There was a special guest soloist who was absolutely amazing! His name is Bryn Terfel. They were doing a selection of numbers from Elijah. They did the full performance as part of the Rededication Gala at the Tabernacle on Friday and Saturday Evenings... Troy and most of his family were able to attend and they all said it was a wonderful experience.

Sunday mornings concert was no exception to the great performances they had heard earlier in the weekend.... Bryn's voice was beautiful and the whole First Presidency of the Church came to hear it as well. The broadcast will be on next Sunday (the 20th) for anyone who wants to watch. Should be on KBYU (or on KSL for those in UT). :)

Race for the Cure...

Saturday morning was the Annual Race for the Cure, for the Susan G Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Troy and I particiapted, along with several of our friends, and THOUSANDS of other people! It was seriously HUGE, which I was so happy to see!

Well... actually, what I would really like to see is diseases like Breast Cancer be eliminated but until then.. I am happy there was such a great turn out and that so much money was raised to fight this terrible disease!

As with every year, I am so touched by the "In Memory Of" and "In Celebration Of" signs on everyone's backs.... makes me cry everytime! I was particularly touched by this father and his two daughters walking in memory of his mother and their grandmother. The picture doesn't do it justice, but you can get the idea.

I was amazed and saddened by how many small children were there with signs about their monthers, unfortunately many had passed on but several were survivors as well. So in honor of those children, and their moms... let's keep up the fight and we can eradicate cancer completely!!

Happy Mother's Day to all the wonderful women in the world.... and especially to the wonderful women in mine and Troy's families! You are all so wonderful!! We feel so blessed! Thank you for all that you do! We love you!

From the Asthma Walk to the Symphony

I think I have said before that I love weekends... but I will say it again anyway... I LOVE WEEKENDS! :)

After having a very long, tiring week for both Troy and I, we were happy to spend a relaxing Friday evening having dinner with Friends. Along with Dave & Rachel and Kevin & Kim, Troy and I headed out to Cafe Trang and had a delicious dinner with a GORGEOUS view! The new Cafe Trang in Draper looks out over the valley where Draper sits and up towards the snow covered peaks. It was just beautiful with a new dusting of spring snow and plenty of rain.

Saturday started very early with the Asthma Walk (http://www.mrsnv.com/evt/e01/team.jsp?id=1425&tid=333) at Sugarhouse Park. As many of you know.. I am not a morning person, but perhaps you do not know that Troy isn't either. Needless to say... getting us both outside at a park at 8am on a Saturday (on a rainy cold morning) is not an easy trick. Haha! We were happy to support such a great cause though and we were happy that we went. There were these two little boys (Isaac and Nathan) that wanted so badly to cross the finish line first so Troy, with them in tow, took off ahead of everyone else. The three of them did a little jogging, running and walking to get to the finish WAY AHEAD of everyone else. And despite a small asthma attack, the three of them crossed the finish line all at the same time. They boys thought it was so fun and Troy really enjoyed it too.

Saturday night we had the Symphony and we had a wonderful time! I made dinner for us beforehand and then we headed downtown. The Symphony was titled Pavel and Ravel and we both thoroughly enjoyed all three pieces. The funniest part of the evening however, was the fact that the Utah Jazz were playing in game 7 at the same time. The people next to us had gotten a message during the first half with an update on the score.. and during intermission, Troy logged on to the fox sports site and gave us all real time updates. By the end of the symphony there was only 10 minutes left in the game and our neighbors were anxious for updates. Troy gave them the latest and then we ran out to the car to catch the last few minutes on the radio. Needless to say... the Jazz won! They play in the next series starting on Monday... go Jazz!
