Be a part of the cure!

Come be a part of the cure!
I have two wonderful suggestions for things that you can do in the next two weeks to be a part of the cure! Whether it be Asthma or Breast Cancer.... you can make a difference in the lives of many people by participating in either event, and we'd love to have you as part of the SKIDS Team for one... Or even better, for both!

~~ OPTION 1
Saturday, May 5th -
Blow the Whistle on Asthma at the American Lung Association's Asthma Walk at Sugar House Park, Salt Lake City
Registration: 8:00 am
Event start time: 9:00 am
Until recently, I did not know that asthma is the leading chronic illness among children and the cause of more than 5,000 deaths in the U.S. each year. I'm sure there are many more people who are unaware of the devastating effects of this chronic lung disease.
Therefore, I have signed up as a Team Captain in the American Lung Association of Utah's Blow the Whistle on Asthma Walk 2007 and I am recruiting team members to join me at the Walk and help raise funds for this worthy cause.
Please visit our team web page at http://www.mrsnv.com/evt/e01/team.jsp?id=1425&tid=333 and follow the instructions to join our Walk team.

~~ OPTION 2
Saturday, May 12th -
Race for the Cure at the Komen Foundation Breast Cancer walk/run
Start Time: 8:30am (End Time: 12:00pm)
Location: The Gateway at South Temple and 400 West in Salt Lake City
It's not only women that are affected by breast cancer! Their families and friends are all affected too. In honor of all the children that have been affected because their Mom, Grandmother, Aunt, Sister, or Friend has suffered, died or hopefully recovered from Breast Cancer... please join the SKIDS Team for the Race for the Cure!

Please go to one of the following pages to register or support our team:
http://race.komenslc.org/goto/skids
or to http://race.komenslc.org/goto/jennifer777
You may know that one in eight women will be stricken with breast cancer in her lifetime. What you may not know is that you can help these women and thousands of others in the fight against breast cancer.
On May 12, 2007, I will be participating in the Komen Salt Lake City Race for the Cure® with a great team of dedicated people. Join the fight by registering as part of our team or even individually or by supporting our efforts with a pledge or a contribution. The money raised through the Race will fund vital education, screening and treatment programs for underserved women in our own community and support the national search for a cure.
We need your support! Every step counts!

i love spring weekends!

What a wonderful weekend!! The sun was out and the canyons were all green... with a little snow still here and there! :) It was beautiful!

Paulette was in town over the weekend and we had such a wonderful evening together!! We ate dinner & shopped... and just talked and caught up. It was so wonderful to just have some time to hang out together. I miss her tons already! I need to go visit them soon... I will try to be better at that, I promise! And Madi - I still maintain you are just growing way too fast! Haha!

The rest of the weekend was great too!
We went to an art gallery on Friday night and ran into an old friend from Huntington (Robb Trounce). We went for a drive Saturday to enjoy the gorgeous weather and ended up at Bear Lake and in Logan Canyon. Haha! Quite a ways but we loved it! I love the spring... before it gets to unbearably hot.. Haha! Now if I could just get my allergies in control!
Saturday night we went to see Dirty Rotten Scoundrels... the show was hilarious!
Sunday we hung out with Bunker for a little while... always a complete riot! Haha! And then of course, dinner with the Hickman Clan.

The weekends are just never long enough!!

Grapes of Wrath...

What a fun weekend! Troy and I had very little on our "to-do" lists weekend so we had lots of time to play and do all the things we never seem to have enough time for...

- Friday night we were lucky to participate in the Vivace Grapes of Wrath Preview Event, that took place at the Salt Lake Art Center (http://www.slartcenter.org). There is a photography exhibit there right now that was just amazing. Most of the photos were from the depression and, oh my, do they just pull at your heart strings! Right in the gallery there was a special preview concert of the brand new opera, The Grapes of Wrath. And we also had the privilege of meeting the composer (Ricky Ian Gordon), who was there to talk about the process of composing the opera. He was so entertaining to listen to and he gave a glimpse into his writing process that people rarely get to see. It was a really neat experience and I am so glad we went! After that we still had time to hit a few more galleries in the Gallery Stroll (http://www.gallerystroll.org) and we found some amazing art work that we just love!

- Saturday we browsed through some book stores, hit another art gallery and even browsed through a furniture store or two. :) We had tickets to a play that night and just had a nice relaxing, fun day before heading off to the play. The play was very entertaining, as they always are at Desert Star Playhouse and we just loved it! (http://desertstarplayhouse.com)

Next week we are going to see "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels" and we can't wait! (http://www.broadwayacrossamerica.com)

The Shelves are in, and I LOVE them!

The shelves that have been patiently awaiting installation are finally in! And I could not be happier with them! I walked down the stairs after they were all installed and filled, and I was just beaming from ear to ear. :) I love being surrounded by pictures of family and friends!
Thank you, Troy for doing such an excellent installation! :)

Happy Birthday to me! :)

I had a wonderful birthday weekend! And since I have now had three birthday celebrations, I guess I had better say that its been a wonderful birthday month! Thanks again for the early celebration in Newport! :)

Troy took me out for a wonderful, romantic dinner on Saturday night and then we were off to the Symphony for Brahms Requiem. It was a wonderful performance and we had such a lovely evening, after spending most of the day playing and goofing off too!! That's the way birthdays are supposed to be, right?? Haha!

Yesterday Troy and I spent a wonderful day goofing off some more and enjoying a beautiful spring drive. We went through a few canyons, saw a few lakes and just enjoyed the gorgeous day! Troy's brother and sister-in-law made a delicious dinner for us all and Troy's Mom got me a delicious birthday cheesecake! :) They all made me feel very loved and appreciated!

Tomorrow my girl friend Erica is taking me out for a birthday dinner and on Wednesday Steve and I are having dinner so.... happy birthday to me agian, and again! :)

I have such sweet friends and family! It's been so wonderful to get so many calls, emails, texts and e-cards!!! Thanks to everyone! Love ya!!

Happy Easter!

OK... I am a few days late but hopefully everyone understands why. Haha!

What a fun Easter weekend I had.. Despite the small inconvenience of the hospital visit, I had a great weekend with Mom and Dad! And we were able to spend some time with Paul, Pat and Jodi too. Thank you all for the fun dinners! And Dad, thanks for the home repairs! Mom... thanks for everything!!

And then on Easter Sunday, I went over to have dinner at the Hickman house and had a great time with Troy's family too! Tanya and crew were headed to Disneyland and I was sad to not see them during their visit... but at least I got to see everyone else in their new Easter dresses. :) Avery's was adorable and she was so proud of her cute hair and new shoes... a girl after my own heart! Haha!

April Fools...

Ok, so I am not that big on practical jokes... However, I can still wish everyone a Happy April Fool's Day! :)

I had such a wonderful weekend in Cali with everyone! (I hardly took any photos, but here are a couple of mine and one that Carly sent me. Thanks Carly!) The tide pools were so fun! And shopping was great! And honestly, just hanging at Mom and Dad's with everyone around is my favorite activity of all!!! The boys are all growing so fast... I just can't believe it!

I think the next trip will be in June but Troy and I are still working on that one :) And I am hoping to make the Bay to Breakers trip to SF. Should be able to, just need to check the vacation funds, and the timing.

Thanks for all the fun! And thanks for the early birthday wishes too!
